What to Consider When Choosing Your Wedding Venue

Inspiration - 22.08.18

Choosing the perfect country house wedding venue is one of the first decisions you’ll make when you start planning your special day. It’s also perhaps one of the most important decisions – finding the setting for your wedding ceremony and reception, with memories that you will treasure forever.

So just how do you seek out that idyllic place and what do you need to think about when you’re looking around a potential venue? If you’re looking for a wedding venue, we hope these key considerations will help you find the place of your dreams.

Perhaps the first thing to look at is whether the venue is the right size for the number of guests you’d like to invite and whether the location works for you. After all, you can’t make a venue bigger or smaller and you can’t relocate it! At Braxted Park, we host more intimate weddings in our elegant Ballroom and can also accommodate larger celebrations in the magnificent Pavilion.

If you have your heart set on a church wedding or dream of saying your vows in the great outdoors, make sure the venue can provide the perfect ceremony space. One of the most versatile wedding venues in Essex, at Braxted Park, you can marry in our idyllic walled garden, in the beautiful Orangery or at the altar in the parish church set within our grounds.

It’s important to choose a venue where you can impart your own style and introduce your wedding ideas. After all, this is your wedding day and you want to feel comfortable and happy with the décor surrounding you. While Braxted Park boasts stunning architectural features, it is also a relatively blank canvas, its neutral colour scheme lending itself perfectly to being adapted to your style. Whether you want a sleek, contemporary style or something colourful and boho, it’s easily done.

When choosing your wedding date, have you thought about what your venue will look like at that time of year? Is it somewhere that will look just as glorious in the winter months as it does in the height of summer? If the weather is gloomy or it decides to rain, can you celebrate your wedding indoors?

We adore a summer wedding but we also love winter celebrations – our gardens are abundant and stunning throughout the year. And, while it’s lovely to take photographs amongst the hidden delights of the walled garden, at Braxted Park, there are equally spectacular photo opportunities inside. Even the interior of the magnificent Georgian house can occasionally be made available for photographs.

We all want to delight our guests on our wedding day, offering them delicious food in a beautiful setting with a great party. What better way to make them smile than with a huge reveal for your evening reception, surprising them with a fabulous finale to a wonderful day. As the sun goes down, the Pavilion at Braxted Park is transformed. Open the bar, head to the dance floor and dance the night away. If you really do want to make the most of your evening, there’s always an option to extend the party to 1am!

Exceptional food is a key element of a successful wedding day so it’s important to choose a venue that rates a delicious menu as highly as you do. At Braxted Park we recommend a selection of talented catering companies, giving you the opportunity to choose the perfect caterer to suit your style and create a memorable dining experience.

If you like the idea of spending the night at your wedding venue, you’ll be on the lookout for a venue with accommodation. Garden Cottage is the honeymoon cottage at Braxted Park, recently renovated to an incredibly high standard. And, for your closest friends and family, our converted stable block offers luxurious, contemporary accommodation. Those guests not staying overnight here will find a fabulous selection of accommodation within easy reach of Braxted Park. Basically, everyone’s happy!
