Can you have animals at your wedding? How to include pets and other furry friends at Braxted Park Estate

InspirationWedding Planning - 04.02.26

For many couples, a wedding celebration doesn’t feel quite complete without the animals they love most. At Braxted Park Estate, we understand that pets and animals are part of the family, and family is at the heart of everything we do.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed all sorts of furry (and not-so-furry) friends, and we love how much personality they bring to a wedding. We are huge animal lovers, and we’re always happy to talk through ideas for incorporating them into your big day at Braxted Park Estate. Whether it’s bringing your dog along for the day or planning something completely unexpected, we’ll try our best to make it happen for you.

Can my dog come to my wedding at Braxted Park Estate?

Dogs are by far our most frequent furry wedding guests. Many couples choose to bring their canine companions to Braxted Park Estate, allowing them to be part of the celebration in meaningful ways.

We’ve seen dogs proudly walk down the aisle, tails wagging, before joining their humans for photographs across the estate. It’s a lovely way to include them, and it often helps couples feel more relaxed too. We’re always happy to work with you and your suppliers to ensure everything runs smoothly, so your dog feels comfortable and well cared for, and you can enjoy the day without worrying about them.

Alpacas: a fun and unexpected touch

For couples looking to do something a bit different, alpacas have made a few memorable appearances at Braxted Park Estate.

They’re gentle, calm and incredibly popular with guests. Whether they’re around for a short meet-and-greet or popping up in photos, alpacas add a sense of fun and surprise without taking over the day. They’re a great option if you want something unique but still relaxed.

Horse-and-carriage: a classic arrival

A horse-and-carriage arrival is always a standout moment. There’s something very special about arriving at your ceremony this way, and it creates an instant sense of occasion.

We’ve seen couples use a horse and carriage as a quiet, romantic entrance or a real statement moment; both work beautifully. It’s one of those details guests remember long after the day itself.

Yes…we’ve had a camel, too

One of our most talked-about wedding moments came in August 2025, when Liam made his entrance riding a camel down the estate driveway.

It was unexpected, brilliant and completely personal to the couple, which is exactly what we love. It’s a perfect example of how weddings don’t have to follow a set formula. If you have an idea that feels right to you, we’re always open to talking it through.

Other animal ideas (we’re all ears)

Dogs, alpacas, horses, and camels aren’t the only options. We’re happy to discuss other ideas too – cats, rabbits, or even organised animal experiences brought in by specialist companies.

If you’re unsure whether something is possible, the best thing to do is ask. We’ll always be honest and help you find a solution that works for everyone: you, your guests, and the animals involved.

What if your pet wouldn’t enjoy a wedding?

Not every pet is suited to a busy wedding day, and that’s completely okay. There are still lots of thoughtful ways to include them without bringing them along.

Some lovely alternatives we’ve seen include:

  • Cake toppers inspired by pets
  • Illustrated stationery or signage
  • Signature cocktails or tables named after them

These small touches are a great way to give a nod to your pet while keeping them happy and stress-free at home.

Making the day feel like yours

At Braxted Park Estate, we really do believe your wedding should reflect who you are as a couple. That includes the people and animals that matter most to you.

Whether you’re planning something simple, sentimental or completely unexpected, we’re always happy to go the extra mile to help make it happen. After all, the best weddings are the ones that feel personal, relaxed and truly memorable.
