Top Tips For Styling Your Wedding Reception At Braxted Park

Inspiration - 15.11.19

If you’re in the midst of planning your wedding reception at Braxted Park and looking to add your own style and personalisation, you need look no further. We hope these ideas on how to add design and décor to your wedding day will offer a little inspiration.

All About Flowers

Flowers are one of the most photographed elements of a wedding day and make an incredible impact on the overall look of your venue. When deciding on the type of flowers you would like to use, consider your colour scheme and bring the outside in with seasonal blooms. Your florist will be able to advise you when it comes to making the most of your budget.

At your Braxted Park wedding reception in the Pavilion, decorate your tables with beautiful floral centrepieces. It’s important not to interrupt conversation with arrangements at eye level, so always choose either tall displays, smaller vases or a beautiful combination of both.

Place any other arrangements where they will be appreciated by your guests, perhaps on the bar or around the dance floor. And, of course, consider your photographs. It’s a wonderful idea to have a flower wall or display as a background to your wedding cake cutting or posed group shots.

Table Decoration

Delight your guests by putting some time and thought into your table decorations. Elegance and simplicity are vital here, remembering that delicious food plays a key role in this part of the day and your tables should be beautiful but never cluttered.

Start with your table linen and work your way through each layer of the design, perhaps adding a hit of colour with napkins, glassware or flowers. And, you might like to give a little personalisation with stationery in the form of table names or numbers and menu cards.

Give each guest a small gift in the form of a favour which can also be considered a part of your table décor. Delicate boxes filled with chocolates, personalised cookies and even Christmas baubles make pretty presents that can tie in with your table style.

Sweet Treats

It might not seem obvious, but your wedding cake and any other delicious sweet treats also become part of your reception decoration.

Think of your wedding cake as a blank canvas upon which you can impart your chosen style and colour scheme, whether you opt for an elegant white cake with exquisite sugar flowers or a less formal semi-naked cake with glorious fresh blooms.

Display your cake on a dedicated cake table and make sure it commands a focal point in the room. You might also decide to have a fabulous table of sweet treats. These delicacies should, once again, echo your colour scheme and be presented beautifully in different vessels from vintage candy jars to scalloped plates and vases, creating a range of heights.

Ambient Lighting

Finally, always remember that lighting plays a key role in creating a romantic vibe, particularly if you’re marrying in an autumn or winter month when you’re likely to be dining after dark.

Candles are the obvious choice for your tables and can easily be incorporated into your floral arrangements. You might also consider having fairly lights to add that romantic ‘twinkle’ and, as day turns to evening, how about some giant illuminated letters on your dance floor?

Finally, there’s nothing we love more than a sparkler finale, marking the end of your reception as you say farewell to your guests and head to the Garden Cottage.
