Vicky and James’s Romantic Summer Wedding

Weddings - 24.07.19

With a delicate colour scheme, great menu and live band, the sunny summer wedding of Vicky and James was truly romantic.

The Venue

With a June wedding date in mind, James had his heart set on a venue with exclusive use, while Vicky wanted to find a stately home with a marquee. Braxted Park ticked all their boxes!

“We love being outdoors and fell in love with the ancient trees, wild flowers, water features and gardens. With its history, beauty and the fact that we could host the wedding breakfast, evening reception and bar in one room, it really was the perfect fit.”

“The sweeping driveway lined with trees blew us away”

The Décor

The happy couple chose a romantic pastel pink colour scheme with everything from the stationery and bridesmaid dresses to flowers and heart-shaped cookies in that delicate shade.

As they got engaged in the Lake District and visit there every year to go hiking, the tables were named after different walks in the area.

The Pavilion was dressed with white ceiling drapes and a large chandelier alongside white chair covers with baby pink chair sashes and pink up-lighters. Braxted Park was adorned with roses and hydrangeas in pink and white, displayed on every table in large ‘martini glass’ vases.

“We also had an ice vodka luge in the shape of a stags head as James loves stags. It was definitely a statement piece and plenty of fun!”

The Dress

Inspired by the dress worn by Michelle Keegan, Vicky researched designers who made similar dresses and chose a stunning gown by Stella York.

“It was a mermaid shape with high neckline, intricate beading and an applique pattern throughout the bodice. The back had a clear mesh. As soon as I tried it on, I knew it was the one!”

The beautiful bride accessorised with teardrop earrings, a bracelet, her grandmother’s ring and a tiara. Finally, her ivory Rockstud Valentino shoes were a gift from James.

Meanwhile, James looked the part in a navy suit from Impeccable while Vicky’s four bridesmaids were stunning in long, pastel pink halterneck dresses with white satin shoes.

The Day

Following their romantic ceremony at All Saint’s Church in Great Braxted, drinks and canapés were served in the gardens at Braxted Park.

Moving in to dine, the wedding breakfast started with shredded duck breast with cucumber and spring onion pancakes, moving on to Striploin beef for main course and Eton Mess for dessert.

“The duck pancakes were absolutely delicious, and we liked the fact that they were a slightly unusual choice. Our guests loved them too!”

The Evening

As the sun went down, the newlyweds danced their first dance to ‘Love’ by Nat King Cole and eight-piece live band, ‘Soul Education’ took centre stage.

“They were incredible, so diverse and dynamic. Our evening reception felt more like a concert than a wedding and the dance floor was packed all night!”

The Best Bit

“Every minute was special for different reasons. In the evening, I remember looking around at James and all our guests having such a good time and thinking… it doesn’t get much better than this!”
