Sarah and Matthew’s Glamorous Summer Wedding

Weddings - 20.02.19

With fabulous flowers, elegant décor and great entertainment, the summer wedding of Sarah and Matthew at Braxted Park was a true delight.

The Venue

With a June wedding date in mind, Sarah and Matthew were on the lookout for their dream wedding venue in Essex. They came across Braxted Park and fell in love with the beauty of the house, the gardens and the Pavilion.

“It immediately gave us the WOW factor! It felt like a happy place to be and the grounds were amazing with some great places to capture photographs.”

The Décor

Finalising their summer date, the happy couple were inspired by the wedding of Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright, choosing a simple but elegant white, ivory and grey colour scheme.

The scene was set with rose petals scattered down the aisle, silver lanterns with candles and beautiful white roses in the floral arrangements.

In the Pavilion, three classic chandeliers hung from the ceiling with organza drapes and fairy lights behind the top table. Candelabra sat on the tables adorned with flowers and surrounded by tea lights.

For the evening décor, Chinese lanterns looked fabulous, alongside a photo booth, glow sticks and giant illuminated ‘LOVE’ letters.

The Dress

The beautiful bride chose ‘Tawny’ by Sophia Tolli, a strapless lace gown with sweetheart neckline and beading.

“I was torn between this dress and a princess style dress – both beautiful but contrasting styles. When I looked in the mirror in my chosen dress, I felt like a million dollars. I couldn’t wait for my wedding day so I could put it on again!”

Sarah completed the look with a veil, pearl and diamante headpiece and Kurt Geiger shoes finished with silver glitter.

Meanwhile, Matt and his groomsmen looked the part in black dinner suits with silk lapels.

And finally… Sarah’s two bridesmaids were stunning in grey one-shoulder chiffon dresses by Christina Wu. “We kept their jewellery and hair accessories minimal and found them matching silver sandals by Paradox, London.”

The Flowers

Beautiful blooms included white roses, gypsophila and foliage, with the bridesmaids carrying similar posies to the bride but in a slightly smaller size.

A white rose was tied to the end of every aisle chair in The Orangery while a beautiful arrangement sat on the ceremony table.

These elegant flowers were then carried through to the Pavilion with roses, gypsophila, gerberas, lisianthus, peonies and foliage in the table arrangements.

The Day

Following their romantic ceremony in the Orangery, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed welcome drinks in the Walled Garden, alongside a selection of delicious canapés.

Moving in to dine, the wedding breakfast commenced with prawn cocktail, followed by a pork main course and, for pudding… white chocolate cheesecake with strawberry compote.

“The prawn cocktail was perfect for summer, we loved the main course and the cheesecake was amazing!”

The Cake

Choosing an elegant, five-tier cake, each tier featured a different texture of icing, from ruffles to plain icing with beautiful ribbons. And, of course, each was a different flavour with fruit cake, chocolate, Victoria sponge, carrot and lemon!

The Evening

As the sun went down, the evening celebrations began. Sarah and Matthew took to the floor for their first dance which had been choreographed especially for them. Dancing to a mix of three songs, the couple enjoyed every moment of their dance lessons before the big day and it was a great hit on the day!

A hog roast proved to be just the thing for evening dining, complete with stuffing, potato wedges and tasty salads. Signature cocktails included the ‘Blushing Bride’ and the ‘Golden Groom’ and, as the DJ played… the dance floor filled.

“I have known the DJ for years. He made our evening an absolute blast and gave us a party to remember.” SARAH

The Best Bits

“We enjoyed every single part of it! Our little boy was so well behaved during the day. He was a diamond. The staff at Braxted and our guests looked out for him all day so we could be a couple and not just ‘mummy and daddy’.”

If you loved this wedding, we think you’ll also be inspired by the stunning summer wedding of Zillia and Martyn.
