Madeline and Martyn’s Amazing Al Fresco Wedding

Weddings - 14.12.17

The newlyweds complemented their summer wedding with a beautiful colour scheme in the Pavilion.

Madeline and Martyn wanted an amazing setting for their special day where they could celebrate in style and have a picturesque al fresco wedding ceremony. After a bit of searching, they found Braxted Park; a breathtaking country house that ticked all the boxes for the happy couple.

“We both immediately got goosebumps when seeing Braxted Park for the first time! We had our heart set on having our ceremony outside, and when we saw the walled garden ceremony space it was an instant love! The garden was beautiful, intimate and seemed just perfect.”

To match the idyllic location, the couple settled on an elegant style that was full of romance. An incredible colour scheme of white, gold and pastel mint, made their summer wedding at Braxted Park look even more beautiful.

“We just wanted to fill the venue with love and laughter and for everyone to have just a fantastic day. We dressed Braxted Park with loads of flowers in the ceremony area and the pavilion for our wedding breakfast. We decorated the tables with gold bowls filled with sweets and also had some scatter gems in gold and mint green to carry on the colour scheme.”

Finding the perfect dress took a little longer than Madeline had expected, with lots of trial and error. The end result was definitely worth the wait when she discovered ‘the one’, though!

“I soon realised due to my petite size that I felt most comfortable in a fitted, subtle fishtail dress. It was actually the last dress I tried on and when I came out I think me, my mum and my bridesmaids just knew it was the one! It was designed by Madeline Gardner and the detail was gorgeous, with diamantes, pearls, gold thread and three layers of lace!”

Madeline paired her exquisite gown with ivory shoes by designer Charlotte Mills, while pearl and diamond earrings from her mum and a Swarovski bracelet from Martyn finished her look.

Martyn and his groomsmen looked the part too with formal tails in royal navy blue, finished with cravats and pocket squares in mint green.

“I think seeing each other for the first time that day was the highlight for me. Also at the very end of the night, we had the entire wedding party on the dancefloor circled around us dancing to Bohemian Rhapsody – that was quite a moment!”

After tying the knot outside in the idyllic Knott Garden, the happy couple enjoyed a drinks reception with their nearest and dearest, celebrating amid the colourful flower beds and water features. The grand Pavilion provided the ideal setting for their wedding breakfast and evening reception, and was also a brilliant blank canvas for the newlyweds to make their day personal to them. After the celebrations, the couple and their loved ones made full use of the luxurious guest accommodation and relaxing honeymoon cottage just steps from the Pavilion.

The happy couple had an amazing day and wouldn’t have changed anything, despite a spot of rain while saying their vows! There were a couple of moments which stood out from the rest, however.

The day wasn’t without its funny moments either. “As the registrar announced us husband and wife an almighty thunder crack sounded, which we couldn’t have timed better if we had tried!” – Madeline
