How to Host an Intimate Wedding at Braxted Park

Wedding Planning - 25.09.18

At Braxted Park, we love weddings of all sizes – whether it’s a lavish winter celebration or an intimate summer occasion. If you are planning to invite fewer guests, we hope these suggestions might inspire you. After all, often the most special things come in small packages…

Choose the Perfect Ceremony Space

When it comes to saying ‘I do’, The Orangery at Braxted Park is a magnificent setting for your ceremony. Small enough to be personal while boasting stunning windows and views over the gardens, it’s an unforgettable space. If the weather is kind, why not head outside? Knott Garden is an intimate oasis of green, a secluded hideaway and just the place for your ceremony.

Make it Personal

Just one of the wonderful things about having a smaller wedding is that you can really focus on details. You might choose to write each guest a special note as their place setting or give beautiful favours as a keepsake of your day. If you’re feeling creative, how about making something yourself?

Splash Out!

If you’re inviting a relatively small number of guests, you might decide to spend a little more on certain elements. With fewer tables to decorate, perhaps you might choose more elaborate floral centrepieces or hire some decadent coloured glassware. Of course, if you’re saving money generally, you might even invest in those fabulous wedding shoes you’ve got your eye on!

When it comes to your menu, again, with a smaller head count you might decide to add an extra course to the wedding breakfast, serve Champagne instead of sparkling wine and add some treats to the evening menu.

Dine in Style

When it comes to your wedding breakfast, you want to find a beautiful room that is the perfect size for your guests. Too big and you’ll feel insignificant, too small and you’ll be cramped! The Ballroom at Braxted Park is the perfect setting for intimate daytime weddings. With elegant panelling and crystal chandeliers, it’s simply stunning.

Entertain Cleverly

When planning entertainment it’s crucial to consider the number of guests you have. After all, there’s no point drowning out a relatively small group with a lavish live band. Equally, if you have a large number of guests, an individual entertainer might go completely unnoticed by some. A smaller wedding gives you the opportunity to focus on guests, perhaps introducing a few talented musicians or a close-up magician. We’re always happy to help with recommended suppliers.

Spend the Night

Finally, invite your guests to spend the night in our beautiful guest accommodation. While Braxted Park is undoubtedly opulent and grand, it also boasts the warmth of a family home and our overnight accommodation really will make it feel like a home from home.

Of course, the best way to plan your wedding is to come and take a look around.
